A Pattaya police officer poses with the purloined gold necklace and handbag belonging to a fake masseuse who lured a Russian this morning with false promise of a roadside massage.

CHONBURI — A woman claiming to be a Cambodian masseur reportedly robbed a Russian tourist in the resort town of Pattaya this morning.

The 49-year-old Russian man told police four women approached him while he was sitting alone on Jomtien Beach at around 6 am and introduced themselves as Cambodian masseurs, said Police Lt. Sombat Kaewmoonsuk, an officer at Pattaya Police Station.

Three of the women later left, at which point the Russian accompanied the remaining woman to a “massage parlor” in Soi Wat Boonkanchanararm which consisted of a bamboo bed on the side of a street, Sombat said. She told the tourist to lie down for a massage, police said, then snatched the gold necklace from his neck and ran off.

"accompanied the remaining woman to a “massage parlor” in Soi Wat Boonkanchanararm which consisted of a bamboo bed on the side of a street,"

Think I've seen trip-reports to that place on Pattaya-Addicts. :D

200 baht covers the lot, apparently.

No joking. crazy.gif

Russian prevents Cambodian Necklace Snatch in South Pattaya

russia-3.jpg?resize=610%2C393

PATTAYA: -- A 49 year old Russian was able to prevent his 30,000 Baht gold necklace from being stolen by a Cambodian sex-worker he met on Jomtien Beach earlier in the night, by chasing her through woodland and forcing her to drop the necklace and her valuables as well.

Mr. Mikhail Zakavov encountered a group of women he described as being Cambodian and not Thai. They offered to take him to another location and massage him for a small fee.

He began by refusing their offer and the group dispersed apart from one of the Cambodian women whose offer of a massage with the Russian was accepted.

They walked along Soi Watboon, at the far-end of Jomtien Beach, and Mr. Zakavov assumed he was being taken to a private room, however the pair stopped in front of a wooden table on the side of the street where he was told to lay on his front and prepare for the massage. When he laid down the Cambodian reportedly snatched his gold necklace and ran off into nearby woodland.

what was he doing there at 6 am?

Getting ready to take the obligatory sunrise picture, or had decided to have an early morning dip, or had been out all night, or breakfast on the beach. Any of these would seem pleasant to someone from say a central Siberian town.

Could have simply woken up there.

Mr. Zakarov had to help himself, when he came back to his bamboo bed at the beach.
