The other paper reports that they were caught on camera near Big C freaking out when the bomb went off. "Acting girlishly," believe it or not, was the phrase used.

So am I the only one thinks that the sketch nothing like the cctv captures?

The sketch artist probably can't draw farang or something?

When I watch the video, it seems equally plausible that they were waiting for the two women at the shrine, and are not involved in the bombing. Seems like they are chatting with the women rather than looking at the main suspect.

I agree, I'm afraid the police got it wrong this time.

Look at the whole video from the start and they look like Chinese tourists to me , and they were waiting for 2 girls that were with them. It looks to be a coincidence that the red shirt guy stands up after the yellow suspect been waiting for around 40 seconds to sit down on the bench. The suspect had a remote control so all he had to do was to wait until someone left the bench, put the bag down and leave . Then , when he left the shrine he started the countdown of the bomb from his phone.

Also I have seen a picture of both the red shirt and white shirt guy as victims of the explosion , maybe not 100% sure but they wear the same clothes.

They are waiting to get a good fall guy and then will issue a new sketch and will photoshop the CCTV images to correspond with the fall guy.

So what was the "certainty of their involvement" based upon? Speculation on social media about one of them making way for the guy with the backpack? Then they spoke with a woman, so she became part of it too? Really too much.

Now BBC have reported they are tour guides , as I suspected for a while they were not involved in this.

I still believe that this could be only one person , a lunatic that planned every detail of this attack and got away with it .

Well for me, my Thai is hopeless, but I have enough intelligence to get it checked before going into print.

From the Concise Oxford Dictionary...

identify

· v. (identifies, identified)
1 establish the identity of.
2 recognize or select by analysis.
3 (identify someone/thing with) associate someone or something closely with.
(identify with) regard oneself as sharing the same characteristics or thinking as (someone else).

Well give the Bib a break they got (2) Recognised a red shirt and a yellow shirt. Toss them a peanut 10/10 goto the top of the farce force.

Woah there, Easy tigers, no need to start trolling.

Of course we are all shocked and confused by current events. For the record I reckon the Thai police are handling it pretty well given the chaotic nature of the city they work in.

My Thai is okay, somewhere between beginner and intermediate with speaking- I know colours, numbers, days and plenty of basic vocabulary and simple phrases. Writing and reading.... Well, maybe oneday!

At this stage it seems like a senseless waste of life, wouldn't wish that fate on anyone.

Best wishes all!.....

When have the police identified and apprehended any high-profile criminal without assistance? They had CCTV footage and said they knew the identity of the guy who chopped up that Nana bargirl and stuffed her in a suitcase. Escaped. They had the Bum Fights producers that shipped baby parts arrested at the freckin police station and the BiB let them go. Then they Escaped to Poipet. Now say you have identified a few of the criminals then Poof.. Escaped on a Tuk Tuk.. Hint: Check the casinos and rent rooms inside the casino area in Poipet you might find a bumper crop of fugitives,Thai and foreigners.

Oh Dear

A lot of Thai bashing going on- I can't imagine what it must have been like, picking up bits of flesh and the ball bearings ( pellets?) around the shrine .

In London there is one camera for every 14 people - around half a million cameras- you are tracked everywhere. The cost of this must be huge. We do not live in a first world country- give the BIB a break- they are probably trying their best in an appalling situation.

I used to think the negativity, cynicism , Thai bashing was faintly amusing.

This is my adopted country- and I think we should support the country - not bash it.

But then of course Thai Visa is full of the most bitter and twisted people on the planet.

I am sure in this case the police are doing all in their power to find this man. It has already affected tourism and the face of the country. My figures maybe off a little but last I heard there are 9 million people in Bangkok alone at any one time. Not exactly childs play finding this man. He could have been on his way and on the motorway in approx 30 mins. Probably not looking anything like the man dropping the bag. He could also have gone a few streets away had a shave , cut his hair and just sunk in to the background of the Bangkok life.

I do agree with other posters that the government should seek help from other countries.

Most of all I just wonder how he could do this and what does he believe in to warrant it? Is it possible that when he was walking around the shrine looking at faces that he knew he would rob their lives and take them from their families?

I don't think they will find him but I wish them power and good luck as I truly hope they do.

Very grainy, blurred pictures. Maybe they ought to be using the motorway cameras that catch speeding motorists in Bangkok? My last fine included a pic of my registration plate that was so clear, I could count the minor dents and dead flies on it. wink.png

There's only like one fixed speed camera in all of Thailand and while it caught you, apart from one time back in 2011 I have never been caught again despite my regular speeding.

I find it hard to believe the camera that caught you was so accurate - I've been told if you drive too fast the camera has no way of catching you because the image will be blurred.

But yeah, maybe they should install some higher resolution cameras in tourist areas as these grainy images are about as useful as a 3.25 inch floppy disk is right now.

FYI they also caught me on a very sharp pic and sent it home. They also caught my wife and sent it home.

I drove motobike on a bridge which suddenly is not allowed to be used by motorcycles (but they all still do it).

My wife was caught while merging onto the mainroad on an exit lane (like they all do).

I do but I have it on my chest

whatever you do dont go walking around bkk with a backpack

I have my back pack on my front sometimes too, to be sure that all the zips are closed so I don't lose my debit card?, plus so I can see that no one is trying to take something out/put something in! Do you do this for the same reasons or just to conceal the fact that you are not in great shape!

Anybody on CCTV who leaves after the bomber has arrived should be considered a suspect until eliminated. That includes those who leave when he left.

In some inverted, Thai logic, blurry photos are meant to show high tech BiB is on the case.

The only ones likely to recognize the people in this blurry photo are the subjects themselves.

Which seems to be the case as they've apparently turned themselves in.

Back to one.

There never was any convincing theory given for why the bomber would have accomplices at the shrine.

I figure it's more than one guy to make it all happen. But they needed only one guy to do the drop.

Posted

so a yellow shirt, a red shirt and a white shirt... who are the white shirts?

Being one of the few here that has read Coedes' tome, The Indianized States of Southeast Asia, may I suggest the white shirts represent the globally feared Brahmin underground.

And on a related note of incredulity

A post containing a link to a non-credible site has been removed.

As Chef said, never get out of the boat, and then never look in the mirror. The collective idle speculation here on TV has somehow managed to hit an even lower low than was previously possible to imagine.

I suppose they felt that the two men who were standing in front of him were trying to hide what he was doing so that a well intentioned stranger did not come over and remind him not to forget his back pack.

This was already obvious yesterday. They have been slow to announce this.

They do seem to be involved. The fact that these two have clearly not disguised themselves implies that yellow shirt is not in disguise either.

These two are almost definitely Asian. All three might pass for Indonesian. My theory is still on international jihadists.

No Shit sherlock? They are now officially cleared.....you should get down to the station and help start flinging a few more false leads about......
