BANGKOK: -- Public health officials and police raided a beauty clinic in Bangkok Monday after a student who reportedly visited this clinic for beauty treatment was found dead at her apartment room in Nonthaburi recently.

The raid was led by Dr Boonruang Trairuangworawat, director-general of Department of Health Services. The unnamed clinic is located on Soi Intharamara 65 off Watcharaphol road.

The clinic was found to have operated without a license although the owner who is a doctor has a license.

Dr Boonruang said, however, that the owner of the clinic is liable to three years imprisonment and/or a fine of up to 60,000 baht for operating a clinic without a licence and an imprisonment of three years and/or 5,000 baht fine for violating the medicines law.

Regarding the case of a 22-year college student who was found dead at her apartment room after she reportedly visited this clinic for a beauty treatment, Dr Boonruang said he would have to wait for a report from the police about the actual cause of the death first.

The police name people who they issue warrants of arrests for giving them ample time to escape yet they won't give the name of an unlicensed clinic which would protect the people? Am I missing something or is something terribly wrong with this?

You're not missing anything.

" Dr Boonruang said, however, that the owner of the clinic is liable to three years imprisonment and/or a fine of up to 60,000 baht for operating a clinic without a licence and an imprisonment of three years and/or 5,000 baht fine for violating the medicines law "
