I have been Teaching English in Issan for about 2 Years now at a Vocational College and I am looking for a change, for a number of reasons, is there somewhere where these jobs can be found.

Thanks People,!

Just google language schools in Thailand, find the ones in the area you want, and walk in with a resume. Or give them a call. Also, check Craigslist. Now to take the piss; it's "where", not "were".

Based on this topic, you should be the one taking lessons in English. Simply being a native English speaker does not make you qualified to teach.

It does if an institution is prepared to offer you a job and it appears that a number in Thailand are prepared to do so.

The OP nicely asked for some help and he gets plenty of criticism instead.

If you have nothing to offer then offer nothing.

OP, Google search could be the right tool for you but anyway here are a couple of links

that might serve you well. Good luck!

As an aside, I am a Native English Teacher, English / Australian.

A native English teacher, or a native English speaking teacher? Or an Australian, who's currently employed as an English teacher in Thailand???

October is midterm break. You could print out a few sets of your resume, go from school to school in your preferred area and you'll find a job.

A good time would be end of September,or beginning of October. Best of luck.

Well deserved criticism is what he got regardless of how nicely he asked. He demonstrated very clearly that he is not qualified to be teaching English. How can someone who cannot use his own language properly ever justify trying to teach that language to foreigners?

Those whom you are having a go at for their criticism are actually offering a lot more than your contribution. Why would you want to assist a barely literate person to find a job teaching the bad use of English? Is this person so dull that he cannot work out how to find what he needs himself? Using the internet is not a difficult thing to do but you do need to know how to spell what it is that you're looking for.

You're missing about three commas, but your spellcheck seems to be working.

Bugger. Just split my sides laughing. Ta.

You only need to be more competent than the people you're teaching, in order to teach.

Often those not anal about grammar make for better teachers.

Do guys become english teachers because of their love for teaching, or because they meet tilak ja, fall in love, but have no money.Interested to know

Both!

Many like me got a job teaching 10 years ago and actually mostly enjoy it now! Can't speak for others.

Not true.

A solid understanding of grammar, spelling and punctuation marks one out as cultured and well educated. How people write is a very good indicator of their intelligence (for example, on Thai Visa). If you don't know your English, you simply aren't qualified to teach. However, considering the abysmal state of Thailand's education standards, any uneducated and semi-literate foreigner will encounter no difficulty in finding employment as an English teacher.

It's getting a bit off-topic but most people that I know work to earn money to live -- that may include love, food, beer, etc..

Teaching isn't about the teacher being cultured or intelligent, it's about relating the course material to students in an engaging way that makes them want to apply themselves.

Where does education come into it... a mother is the best teacher of a newborn, they need no qualifications.

Met guys for which it's a bit of both, it was their way to stay in Thailand but still they enjoyed some aspects of the job, like working with kids. Just hate the red tape, long hours and wish the salary was higher.

Almost all of us are here for the women in some sense though. Except SoiBiker.

If you are just looking for a change try SINE. No need to know a thing about english or teaching as long as you can read and speak english. Regardless of any accents. just point to a picture of a potato chip and say crisp, crisp, crisp. Voila, you are now an english teacher!
