Why now?? The USMC birthday is November 10 . . . .

If you read the invitation it says 14 Nov. the Sat. following 10 Nov. There will be more info coming out 15 Sept. I have to think the reasoning behind the Sat. date is that many of the security detail, it is small, will be able to stand down for the evening and thinking more folks will be able to come on the weekend. I am guessing the reason for the early announcement is to try and get the word out to as many in the area as possible. There are quite a few of us up in the area, but most just kinda' keep to themselves. I actually run into more up in Nong Khai than I do here in Udon. I didn't question the Gunny's motives for an early announcement, nor am I going to, if you get my drift. I will still have my 3 or more beers on actual B-day, I believe it is a standing order that all Marines must get drunk USMC B-day. Please pass the info to any that will be up in the area at that time. As the actual date nears there will be more reminders.
