PATTAYA: -- Prices of seafood have risen on average between 5 and 10 baht per Kilo following new regulations which came into force on 1st September which limits the time fishing boats can work in the Gulf of Thailand.

Fishing Boats are now not permitted to fish for 9 days out of every month, between 1st and 3rd, 11th and 13th and 21st to 23rd. This has predictably led to a rise in seafood prices.

One of the most popular Seafood Markets in Pattaya is located at Lan Po in Naklua and vendors confirmed the price rise which they are forced to pass on to customers as they are now paying more to purchase their stock from the fishing boats.

Since the government has been posting negative inflation for the last six months, these price increases are actually good news.

Not surprised... any excuse to put the price up.

just wait until it does not sell, that's bound to cause a real stink... gigglem.gif
