PATTAYA: -- Police witnessed a necklace snatch from an Indian Tourist take place on Pattaya Beach and were then able to arrest a Ladyboy suspected of being involved.

The incident occurred late on Tuesday night in front of the South Pattaya Bangkok Bank branch on Pattaya Beach Road as Mr. Srikanth Jayprakash aged 31 from India was walking back to his Hotel. Three Ladyboys approached him and two of them embraced the tourist as the third snatched his gold necklace worth an estimated 13,000 Baht.

What the Ladyboy’s failed to notice was a group of Police Officers on the Beach promenade watching events unfold.

"Police witnessed a necklace snatch from an Indian Tourist take place on Pattaya Beach and were then able to arrest a Ladyboy suspected of being involved."

not the same as "Police prevent Indian Necklace Snatch on Pattaya Beach"

They didn't actually "prevent" it.

"What the Ladyboy’s failed to notice was a group of Police Officers on the Beach promenade watching events unfold."

In fact the crime took place in front of their eyes . At least they solved it, so chalk one up to them. Pity the Ladyboy was so confident that she didn't even bother to look around to see if the police were watching.....

I have no problem with police allowing a crime to happen if it is the only way to prove the intentions of the villains as long as:

  1. They are able to apprehend the suspects.
  2. Police funds are used to compensate for any damage or loss, hopefully the police/courts will where possible get any monies paid out back from the villains.

Wish Thailand had a law that would allow for persistent offenders to be sent back to their villages and exclude them from the likes of Pattaya.
