Short Visit To Attend Scientific Conference

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am holding a Yemeni passport and living in Malaysia.

I am planing for a short visit to Thailand to attend a scientific conference in Bangkok on 5 -10 November 2006.

In this regards, I would like to inquire about which type of visa I should apply for. And How long time it is needed to issue the visa.

best regards,

Call the Thai embassy or counselate in Penang and ask them requirements for Yemini citizens entering Thailand. I don't think Yemen is on the 30-day no-visa entry scheme. You may be able to get a visa on arrival at Don Muang (opps...Suvmanabumi or whatever it's called) when you arrive. In that case, you don't have to do anything before you arrive (except bring along a couple passport size photos). However, even if Yemenis qualify for a visa on arrival, you may want to get a visa in KUL or Penang if its' convient as the VOA line is often very long and crowded with non-English readers trying to fill out their immigration forms. It must take forever there. A tourist visa would be the one to get...it would allow you up to 30 days stay and attending your conference would be no problem (as long as you are not "working" at the conference, e.g., a speaker or something).
