Thailand urged to use European technological standards for its new rail transit systems

BANGKOK, 29 September 2015 (NNT) - The European Association for Business and Commerce (EABC) has suggested that Thailand adopt European technological standards, particularly in the country’s construction of new rail transit systems.

Deputy Prime Minister ACM Prajin Juntong spoke after a meeting with EABC President Rolf-Dieter Daniel, confirming that European countries continue to place great importance on cooperation with Thailand and revealing the President’s suggestion that Thailand adopt European technological standards, particularly in the country’s construction of Thai-Chinese and Thai-Japanese rail transit systems.

The standards are designed to ensure the thorough development of vehicle control technology and ensure that the project is environmentally friendly.

ACM Prajin pointed out that Thailand currently uses European standards in many of its sectors within the land, water and air transport industry and will soon hold a meeting with the EABC on incorporating technologies that meet European standards into Thailand’s rail transit systems.

As much as I am not Communist Chinas' number 1 fan, I have to admit when it comes to rail/train technology, their track record (no pun intended) is pretty impressive.

The UK has been dangling the HST carrot for over 30 years, with little real progress.

Their technology is impressive?

Not a chance this will happen. The good PM wouldn't want to ruffle friends in China.

I'm afraid comparing high speed rail in China and England is a like apples and oranges.

The problems poised in the UK far out way those of China, the mere size of the place makes it much easier for a start,I can only imagine that compulsory purchase orders in China are slightly easier also given their human rights record.

England is Victorian and any new developments are met with problems that simply don't exist in a developing country like China.

From my research of Chinese railways and many of their record breaking engineering feats of late, they certainly do command some respect in these fields.

On a flip side I've worked on new Chinese built drill ships and rigs and some of the craftsmanship is simply shocking.

Siemens don't have production in China?

Hmmmm.....roundabout article.

We will make rail network to EN, but made in China

Some basic info on the history of H/S trains in China, at one time there was 1500 safety issues in an special audit taken by ABB Germany , from no lightning conductor protection on the whole network to 8 hrs Locomotive ( Engineer ) Driver tuition , they had cracked axle problems because of wrong( Cheaper )steel , concrete sleepers stress test failures , steel content in Rails sub standard , no emergency doors open when train has power outage, trapping passengers up to 12hrs when hit by lightning, incompatible electronics , Loco cab Electronics telling driver advance signals at green when they were red, resulting in a smash ( Aka ABB audit ) trying , would you believe, in the world court, to claim from Japan their H/S technology copyright , which was thrown out immediately and the grandfather of the H/S and 150 sidekicks (at last count) doing time for corruption , just a small insight into the wonderful H/S trains of China also within the first 3 months of the Shanghai , Beijing route the airlines just about went broke , as everyone flocked to the cheaper ticketed trains, within 6 months the airlines couldn't supply enough planes. Most of these problems have been overcome using European or Japanese tec, because of rail and sleeper construction faults the h/s only do 300/ 320 instead of 420.Oh Dear.coffee1.gif
