Non- Native English Speaking Teacher Is Urgently Seeking Advice From A NES Teacher

Recommended Posts

Dear Ajarn Farlang,

An ex- student of mine ( I taught him in grade six, seven years ago) just recently approached me to help him with his tests.

Here's the question and I'd deeply appreciate an answer that makes perfect sense to my ex-student, but also to me.

Q: If you have a sexual urge, what must you do?

Possible answers: facepalm.gif

a) Call friends to go play football.

c) Try to sleep.

d) Go out with a friend of the opposite sex.

e) Invite a close friend to see a movie.

P.S. I said to him to choose e, but only if it's a movie where people certainly interact with each other and they're physically attracted to each other)

Thanks a lot for your time and consideration. wai2.gif

LOL I've seen the same question in books. It's mind-bogglingly awful and no, Lost in Isaan is not on the chronic. Confirms your worst fears about the education system.

So your ex student has been set a test which allows him to take the questions home and get advice as to which are the correct answers? How much time does he get to submit the answers?

Try again.

Here's one more: Please don't make fun out of me. It's a serious question, awaiting sincere answers. No bar stool language, please.

Q: If you are a couple, what is an appropriate behavior according to the Thai tradition?

a) Walking together hand over each other’s shoulders, shopping.

c) Putting head on the others’ lap in public.

d) Going to the beach, staying overnight together.

e) Feed each other in restaurants.

Okay, the truth is that it's from a 2011 article> Interesting facts indeed.
