i have mates along coconut bar and they are always sharing and bying beers for one another why is it in bangkok everyone is tight and acting broke? trying to get something for free?

I've been here 8 years and, apart from the Embassy and airport I have never been to Bangkok - nor have any desire so to do.

So I can't comment about generousity.

What I do know is that yesterday I dropped a 100 baht note at the till in 7-11. Just got on my motor-bike outside and the girl rushed out to give it me. Didn't know I had dropped it.

Would that have happened in Bangkok. I would hope the answer is 'yes'

there is no comparable place to Pattaya BR in BKK... otherwise people would share too. takes a relaxed atmosphere

Im 8 years Bangkok and the answer is a resounding yes! I had a dropped wallet with 20k in it for a furniture piece and the Thai guy raced up beside me and handed it over, and received a 1k tip
