October 9, 201510 yr EU to seize smugglers’ boats near Libya The United Nations security council has authorised European Union naval operations off the coast of Libya to discourage groups of people traffickers from smuggling migrants to Europe. All members of the council with one exception voted in favour of the UK-drafted resolution: Venezuela abstained. The British ambassador Matthew Rycroft welcomed the approval.“These groups have no respect for human life. They exploit those taking the perilous journey across the Mediterranean. They overfill poorly maintained boats, ill-suited to such a difficult crossing. And, they abandon their passengers at the first sign of trouble,” said Rycroft. The one-year operation will seize and dispose of boats operated by human traffickers setting off from Libya. It will not cover the route refugees have been using to flee fighting in Iraq and Syria through Turkey, Greece and the Balkans. -- (c) Copyright Euronews 2015-10-09
October 10, 201510 yr " They overfill poorly maintained boats, ill-suited to such a difficult crossing. And, they abandon their passengers at the first sign of trouble,” said Rycroft." He's lamenting the condition of the boat and the smugglers ethics, really? if the boats were good and safe and the smugglers were priests and nuns, would that been ok with you sir? And while you're at it, don't forget to compensate and apologies to smugglers for sizing their boats...
October 10, 201510 yr I am not sure why those going from Turkey are not seized as well. Once they reach the safety of Turkey and try to continue onwards they become economic migrants, previously known as ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS.
October 10, 201510 yr Libya objects? Libya needs its mind-set changing with a massive Naval Bombardment.

October 11, 201510 yr Yes, but when they seize the smugglers boats what are they going to do with the passengers ? They take them on to Europe and deliver them to a camp where they use their smart phones to call their traffickers to find out what if Calais, Germany or Sweden is the current preferred destination.
