geovalin
Virak Buntham 'Sexual Assault' Khmer Times/Jack Laurenson Friday, 09 October 2015 683 views SIHANOUKVILLE – “Alice” takes a deep breath and bravely begins recounting the story of the frightening attempted rape that took place on a Virak Buntham sleeper bus from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville on Monday night. On Wednesday, she took the bold decision to speak with Khmer Times after she was outraged when her alleged attacker walked out of a Sihanoukville police station “with a big smile on his face” after she says he was seen handing over some money to a friendly police officer. Both the owner of her hotel – who contacted Khmer Times – and Alice herself, say they witnessed this. “I couldn't really believe what I saw,” said the owner of the hotel where Alice is staying, asking not to be named for fear of reprisal. “They hugged, shook hands, laughed and eventually money was handed over before he simply walked out.” read more: http://www.khmertimeskh.com/news/16702/virak-buntham--sexual-assault-/

sendintheclowns
Get it posted onto one of the petition sites ( e.g. Start one on Causes, or on Facebook). One of the most effective methods for getting your voice heard is to prepare a letter to The Cambodian Tourist Board, show their website address, post it on your Facebook and ask people to sign and send it - and also to 'share' it. wooloomooloo
Whilst I do not condone such crimes, maybe a lesson for others reading this and considering alternative means of transport, if not more expensive. Think about it.

craigt3365
Well done Alice,Asian men have been getting away with it for centuries. Not just Asian! Foreigners can hand over cash to make crimes 'go away' too..... and closer to home! Foreigners many times don't have an option BUT to hand over cash. It's demanded or you go to jail. Regardless of any crime being committed. The police are the major part of the problem here. One way or another, explicitly or implicitly, they are involved in every sort of criminal activity. Sheryl
Phnom Phen to Snooky needs 2 drivers, they must be going via SR. The only sleeper bus I am aware of to SHV is from Siem Reap. Possible she just got on it in PP or, equally likely, an error in the news report. This company was getting bad reviews even well before this incident, which may explain the nearly empty bus: https://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/forums/asia-south-east-asia-mainland/cambodia/siem-reap-to-sihanoukville-avoid-virak-buntham-express From post #4 in above link, they had already turned their hand to robbery before moving on to rape....
