Amnesty Calls on Thailand to Reopen Investigation into Activist's Murder

BANGKOK — Amnesty International called on Thai authorities Wednesday to reopen the investigation into three former officials after the Supreme Court upheld their acquittal in the 2004 murder of environmental activist Charoen Wat-aksorn.

7th rice auction fetches 1.05 billion baht with 1.4 billion baht loss

BANGKOK: -- The Foreign Trade Department managed to sell only 112,000 tonnes out of 445,000 tonnes of milled rice put on auction worth about 1.05 billion baht in its seventh auction of the leftover rice bought under the rice pledging scheme of Ms Yingluck government.

Video: Thai parents hope 'frozen' child will live again
Earlier this year, two-year-old Thai girl Matheryn Naovaratpong became the youngest person to be cryogenically frozen, her brain being preserved at the point of death. Her parents say they are "100% convinced" future medical advances mean she will one day be restored to life.
They told the BBC's Jonathan Head it was their love for their daughter that drove them to seek this route.

Thailand No 2 destination for Singaporean travellers, study finds

British expat found dead in his Phuket home after three day no-show at work

PHUKET: -- A 51-year-old British expat who was an assistant sales manager at the Laguna Holiday Club and had not been seen at work for three days was found dead inside his home in Srisoonthorn this morning (Oct 15). Police have yet to confirm the cause of death.

BANGKOK:-- A Thai woman is in police custody and her Nigerian boyfriend is on the run after nearly 12 kg of crystal meth was found hidden inside the heels of 58 pairs of shoes.
