Laos tourist visa with overstay.

Featured Replies

Just a quick question.

If someone had overstayed after an ED visa (under 90 days). Is it still possible to get a tourist visa on a run to Laos? Or would it be better to leave by plane? would they let you back in on a 30 day if you fly back after a couple of days?

Thankyou.

Always best to settle overstay at the airport prior to departure.

I believe it would be best to obtain a Tourist Visa prior to returning to Thailand.

You would have no problem getting a tourist visa. Others have done it with longer overstays.

It is best to fly out of the country. Getting to a border is risky because of possible checkpoints.

You could go out and return to get a 30 day exempt entry.

  • Yes
  • Better but many people exit by land with overstays. Going by land increases the chance of getting caught with an overstay before reaching the border.
  • Yes but make sure you have 10k min cash and an onward flight dated within 30 days otherwise you could be denied entry using visa exemption.

Your best option is to fly out, get a tourist visa and then you can re-enter by land or air.
