Mixed reviews in these threads from this year:

The main problem seem to be the passengers and their behavior/level of intoxication.

Technically they are OK, modern planes, relatively short leg to Moscow (and no rockets on the way whistling.gif ).

There was a lengthy argument whether they have stopped serving alcohol on board.

Seems like they have to avoid to worst.

My lady and I flew Bangkok to Rome, (via Moscow,) on Aeroflot

2 years ago and again 4 months ago. Both times the trip was

comfortable, pleasant and delightful. Excellent customer service

and in-flight entertainment. I wouldn't hesitate for fly Aeroflot

again at all. :)

Aeroflot's name is spoilt by its history.

On international traffic they don't use old aged Russian planes since a long time, no drunken pilots on board etc.

They use 777-300ER.

Their safety record since the 2000s is better than for some often used airlines to Thailand.

Domestic traffic on Tupolevs and Illiushins might be a different story.

Eurowings (Germanwings) has some excellent prices for Bangkok to Cologne return in winter whistling.gif

The rule with these low level airlines is:

If everything goes well then you're fine - many people fly them without problem.

BUT if something goes wrong, then you're well and truly f****ed.

I'm happy to pay a little extra to fly with a good airline, I know that if my bags are lost or my flight is delayed, I'll be looked after.

Ask yourself - is it really worth saving a little money to put yourself at so much risk. If you're happy to .. .then good luck.

The first time I came to Thailand I landed in an Ilyushin 86.

It took some half assed route via Sharjah in the UAE on the way out and via Delhi AND Tashkent on the way back. Apart from the strange route and inedible food they picked up in India it was ok.

This was back in the 90's though.

Bad old times biggrin.png

But as said, on the international routes they fly 777-300ER. Bangkok - Moscow nonstop nowadays.

Don't get me wrong, I do not advertise Aeroflot.

If other airlines are only slighty more expensive then I would still prefer them.

Especially if they fly nonstop to a European destination.

I still feel somewhat uncertain with a stop in Russia or the Emirates.
