NACC gets five new members

BANGKOK:-- Five people were yesterday selected from a total of 59 candidates to become National Anti-Corruption Commission members.

The five are former auditor general Witthaya Arkompithak, Justice Ministry permanent-secretary Suwana Suwanjuta, former deputy national police chief General Watcharapol Prasarnrajkit, former Southern Bangkok Criminal Court chief judge Surasak kirivichien and former director of the Army's Office of Internal Audit General Bunyawaj Kruahong.

Constitutional Court president Nurak Mapraneet chaired a meeting to select the five.

They had to receive at least two-thirds of the total vote from selection committee to be chosen.

The selection committee comprises Nurak, Supreme Court president Veerapol Tungsuwan, National Legislative Assembly president Pornpetch Wichitcholchai and Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam.

The NACC will present the new members to the NLA president who will call an NLA meeting to endorse them.
