Proof of fund for marriage VISA. Bank account in different country?

Featured Replies

Hello guys,

i need your help understanding the proof of funds requirements for a Marriage Visa.

My situation:

- Italian national and resident

- Will marry soon a Thai woman

- Will request a marriage single entry visa at consulate in Milan

- Once in Thailand i will ask a one year extension based on marriage

Now here comes the problem:

I own an apartment in Holland that is rented out and provides around 45.000 THB a month.

The money is transferred every month in a Dutch bank account.

Who should provide me with a certification of income?

In a normal situation i would ask the Italian embassy in Bangkok but I'm pretty sure they will not certify an foreign (Dutch) bank account.

Can i ask it to the Dutch embassy even if i am not a resident of that country?

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thank you

You cannot obtain a single entry "O" visa based on marriage unless you are actually married.

As an Italian you would have to ask the Italian Embassy to provide the necessary letter/Affidavit relating to your income.

I don't think there's any requirement that the embassy issuing the affidavit must be the same as your home country.

Whether or not the Dutch embassy would be willing to issue the letter to a non-national is another matter.

The Dutch embassy only issues letters if they can prove the income. Maybe the contract is enough, but when i wanted one I needed to show filed taxes. Might be different from non Dutch nationals.

Exactly !

Embassy's/Consulates are only obliged to assist their own Nationals.

My Embassy will accept evidence of income arising from any country for the purpose of "certifying" income.

thanks guys!

Based on your advice i will contact the Italian embassy in Bangkok asking about the procedure to certify income arising from another country.

Knowing Italian bureaucracy it will be a long process :)

As far as I'm aware, Embassies issuing an income letter do not stipulate which Country the income comes from, only the proof of such income.

Taken from UK Embassy website:

Dear Pensioner,
Consular Letter Confirming Pension/Income for Retirement Visa – Fee No 2 (i) **There is no need to apply in person – please make your application by post**
The Consular Section is able to issue a standard letter addressed to Thai Immigration confirming your pension/income to support the renewal/extension of your retirement visa. This letter is a Thai requirement and the granting of the visa is at the sole discretion of the Thai Immigration authorities, not the British Embassy.
Requirements  Photocopy of your current British passport  Evidence of your current pension/income which will be returned to you  Your local Thai address to be typed on the letter
Please ensure the pension/income evidence you provide is in a form that is simple and easy to understand and shows clearly the key financial amounts that are required for inclusion in the letter. According to Thai Immigration, your pension currency should not be converted into Thai Baht.

It does not stipulate that the Pension/Income comes from the UK.

The Italian Embassy should therefore issue an Income letter for the OP regardless of where his income comes from.

He does not want a visa. He wants to apply for an extension of stay at immigration here after he gets married.

That is why he needs to get the income letter from the Italian embassy.
