He apologizes, after the fact. cheesy.gif. Most Thai men are the "Little Lord Fauntleroy" aristocrats of the Kingdom, who are emotionally arrested @ the (14 year-old baby stage of puberty. Mr. (47-year old) Sompong Tantiwongpaisarn, guaranteed, will not be held accountable for his actions, by being prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Thatt bloke is a walking Puiblic Safety hazard. coffee1.gif

If you bothered to read the report you'd have seen that he's been arrested and charged with attempted murder and a couple of firearm offenses so as of now he is being held accountable.

Simple...

5 years minimum for Possessing an unlicensed firearm, Reckless shooting that may endanger life or property, possessing a real or imitation fire arm with the intent to commit a crime or frighten people.

Road Rage 5 year driving ban.

These penalties should be mandatory to which the police have to without exception refer to the courts, no brushing under the carpet for a donation to the Police officers retirement fund.

These penalties should be mandatory/ Huh? Since when have "the shoulds" ever counted? whistling.gif

I did bother to read it. I also bothered to read between the lines, as well. Did you? Can you? Being arrested, is a far cry from being "actually" indicted (held accountable) and then prosecuted. whistling.gif

Yes this is what you get if there's no police patrolling the highways/mainroads.

And i still haven't heard of a plan from the General to start with that. You can do anything you like on the roads in BKK but if you drive motorbike and don't keep totally left they'll get you.wai.gif

Why would the General concern himself with that ?. It is a police/road traffic matter. You make it sound like you watch the news every night just waiting for his personal directive for this one point.

And how on Earth would some police patrols stop this guy getting a gun out and firing a single shot ?.

Or (like the other red-shirts here) you want to whine at him for something else about which the last bunch of dirty cronies were 100 times worse ? (but they didn't see fit to complain then).

Time to grow up.

If the General won't do it then who will? He is cleaning up the country and making it more safe/fair. He got the power after we had daily shootings/bombings in BKK, that's over now so now we start shooting eachother when we pass eachother in our cars? We had a minibus driver aiming a box out of his minivan, a constructionguy shooting in the air out of his BMW....and now a lecturer from the Thai-german institute of technology shooting a woman-dentist...because she passed him in her car.whistling.gif

Nope nothing wrong in Thailand.

But of course celebs making pics of themselves drinking Chang beer is far more important! giggle.gif

And yes we need subs and the latest face-recognizing software at all borders. Thailand will be safe soon! thumbsup.gif

Unbelievable people ,the men all got to have guns and knifes and attack in numbers and the women are all w#%}~~

The children are the most civilised until they reach 13

There is a valid reason why Thai women are terrified of their menfolk. Its the foreigners who really don't pay attention to the realities of Thai society.

You gotta rub your eyes and remember that you're awake when you read something like that.

He apologized. Oh. Right. So everything's fine and dandy now. It's not like he could have killed her or anything.

Also, I don't know if it's the law of series, but we read a lot of 'apologies' these days that run : 'I did that thing because I was angry'. How is that an explanation ? Normally the word 'because' introduces some kind of explanation. But this sounds like "it's hot because the temperature is high".

A person who comes up with such an idiotic 'explanation' can't have enough brains to fill a thimble, yet this guy is a lecturer ? What did his lectures sound like, I wonder.

What he needs to do is not to teach but to learn.

Too late for him to learn anything, except the hard way (never happen). Guaranteed, he has a personal history and a penchant for "acting-out" that way, and an accustomed habit of getting away with it.coffee1.gif

The bullet penetrated the left side window and hit the opposite side the window but missed the victim

Attempted murder?

And all because the poor little man was overtaken.

Perhaps his mummy didn't show him enough love when he was young.

To the fact that mommy didn't care

King Jeremy the wicked

Ruled his world

Clearly I remember

Pickin' on the boy

Seemed a harmless little <deleted>

But we unleashed a lion

Gnashed his teeth"

Sorry, but they don't need to grow-up. This is their turf, their arena, and their rules. Thats the main reason why they keep postponing the advent of ASEAN. The time will have come to grow-up whistling.gif

There's a thread asking why it is so common here - the aggressive, sometimes violent, behavior when you overtake a Thai, and trying to get to the bottom of it all, as to why.

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/818776-many-thai-driversriders-become-aggressive-when-you-overtake-them-why/

Strangely, many posters seem to be in complete denial about it.

There was just another shooting from a car reported up here in Chiang Mai,

a businessman with too much to drink, seems to becoming a popular pastime

for Thai drivers,so not only have you got to be on the lookout for bad drivers,

(too many) but they might have a gun AND a short fuse.

Seems they are both highly qualified recruits to train as police officers in several US states.

I read your thread.

Respectfully, the consensus seems to be that no one knows what you're talking about. Put another way, no one appears to have experienced the things you've encountered.

I've certainly not come across the situations you describe, and I've been here since 1999.

I guess people's mileages vary.

10 million known guns, in so called Buddhist country?

I have said this before, but its why I feel safer in Indonesia with 250 million tea drinking muslims than I do in Thailand with,

70 odd million, drunken buddhists with weapons. Its a fact. Rash acts like giving the finger in the traffic, can be terminal.

On the couple of odd occasions I have done it, I instinctively duck and grimace. Not good. bad idea . . . .

If he did that to my car especially when y wife is driving I would find him and beat the crap out of him. Why does Thailand allow such moronic people to be out? As someone here says it is the wild west.

He would not have done it if a farang had been in the car. My ex explained this to me years ago.

Some Thai men -- but NOT ALL -- are weak bullies. They'll almost never pick on a farang.

I agree they may be daft but they are not stupid.

The BIB are by a majority, completly ineffecient and completly worthless as any contribution to social order. Until this den of snakes are fired,

jailed, placed in mental instituations, punlic caning, etc there is little hope for inpovement. I count 14 people in the main photo and this seems to be normal in police procedure, GET enough people involved and we can screw up or misinterpert the 10 commandents, or any law written, verbal or rumored and no single person is blamed by thar now famous fickle pointing finger.

The first two paragraphs of the article touts his job. Thais are genetically incapable of being objective. If they don't know the social status and relative wealth of a person breaking the law, they cannot make a judgement on guilt or innocence or what sort of penalty should be meted out.

Of course he should be slammed in jail for 6 months and compelled to pay 250,000 baht to the woman he shot at, but nothing of the sort will happen.

If you did that, you would be in trouble for being a hot-headed farang, and he would sue you and probably win. Am not saying it's fair, am just saying it's the Thai biased way.

if they pick on farang, they make darn sure there are a dozen Thai guys nearby ready to jump in on their side - wielding iron pipes and other weapons.
