PATTAYA: -- Following the announcement that Thailand is the second most dangerous country in the World when it comes to road safety, another fatal road accident occurred in the Eastern outskirts of Pattaya on Wednesday Night, which say a 17 year old Cambodian killed.

The crash occurred on Highway 331 in the Huay Yai area and involved a Toyota Altis, driven by Khun Giti aged 47 and a motorbike, driven by a 17 year old Cambodian male.

The car and its driver were travelling from Sattahip towards Highway 36 and the car driver claims the motorbike driver was travelling in the opposite direction and he overtook a slow-moving car, which forced him to come over to the opposing lane, into the path of the oncoming car of Khun Giti.

Since the announcement that Thailand has such an abysmal road kill record, another ~100 people have gone to God.....not just this poor Cambodian guy!!

331 is a death trap because it's a fairly narrow highway with no medial strip. RIP to the young driver.

Poor young fellow killed by another blind/sleepy racer?

forced him to come over to the opposing lane

Interesting wording. "forced" to the opposite lane blink.png

It happened in the night.

The car driver did not claim that the motorcycle did not have lights (on)?

(which is not so unusual on "our" rural highway)

Driving in the night?

Overtaking in the night?

I avoid it whenever possible.

Better come home 5 min later.

Didn't I read average of 39 killed on roads every day in Thailand? If covered each one, no room for anything else on TV, or most other forums.

71 killed a day on the roads in Thailand. 25,000+ a year.

Always in a rush. Speed and poor judgement. That's the lethal cocktail.

......another day on the Thai killing fields(roads)

So passing into on-coming traffic causing the death of a foreign scooter driver. Sounds like a

750 baht fine, and suspended 2 year prison sentence. Maybe 100k baht compensation to

the young drivers parents. blink.png
