Lampang province promotes self as ''ceramics city''

LAMPANG, 25 October 2015 (NNT) – Lampang province is currently promoting its ceramic industry as part of a fresh tourism campaign during high season.

A fair entitled "Lampang Ceramics 2015” is being held until 25 October 2015 at Carriage Activity Plaza in the compound of Lampang Central Plaza to promote the province's ceramic industry. The event has drawn a large number of Thai and foreign visitors, many of whom have bought different types of ceramic products.

Given the ceramics fair, Lampang province is obviously proclaiming its identity as the ''ceramics city'' besides being a tourist attraction in northern Thailand. Local ceramic manufacturers and entrepreneurs are yet to develop their products to live up to international standards and competitiveness.

More than 100 local ceramic manufacturers, ranging from leading entrepreneurs and businesspersons to grass-root producers were selected to take part in the exhibition and put their three- to five-stars products on sale.

The event also features the history of ceramics which underlined relationships between Thailand and China and an exhibition of rare ceramics which can only be found in Lampang. Besides, an auction on ceramic bowls is held with proceeds to fund the Thai Elephant Conservation Center in Lampang province, plus a fashion show under the theme "Inspiration of Ceramics."
