...what's with all the Christian Schools in Thailand....

They are as money oriented as most businesses. The poor reputation of the Thai public school system is so deplorable that parents go ino debt to get a stundent into private schools. The use of the term ''Christian'' in a school name implies honesty to many and they may want their children to be taught charity toward others as its not real apparent in this society.

There is one christian school in CM who was reported by one of its adminstrators as having 30,000,000 dollars on deposit in banks that they could loan out to build another International school with all the bells and whistles of a unversity campus, pool, gymn, track, football stadium/field, etc

I doubt these schools pay much if any tax on earning, while charging huge sums for students to be accepted, tution yearly uniforms, etc. The experience I have had it is not money well spent but its the trendy thing it seems. Can not let the Jones get a step ahead of our family, can we?

Thank you for providing the context. The story makes more sense now. Of course the Thai media will do a lot of flagwaving, but useful to know the stats.

Oooh, everyone gets a shiny piece of metal, just like the special Olympics. clap2.gif

Now why did the 2015 Challenge for Future Mathematicians (CFM) contest restrict the invites? facepalm.gif

Japan, China, Singapore, Taiwan and South Korea did not participate. These are the countries that typically dominate the regional math and science competitions. whistling.gif
