BANGKOK, 31 October 2015 (NNT) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has instructed the authorities to accelerate educational reform policy at all levels, said government spokesman Sansern Kaewkamnerd.

Both short-term and long-term educational reform policy will be pushed forward to create quality education, reduce inequality and meet labor markets' needs. For that reason, the authorities will quickly collect database on current employment conditions and tendencies of labor markets' needs in a one-month time, he said.

That is to map out the production of manpower to accommodate the domestic labor market and meet demands for employment in Special Economic Zones and the ASEAN Economic Community scheduled to open at the end of this year.

Under the planned educational reform, Thai children will have access to optimum education and learning in happy atmosphere and become full-fledged under the 4Hs theme - Head, Heart, Hand and Health.

The prime minister was also quoted as saying the educational reform and development plans must have a clear goal in terms of both quantity and quality while children should be instilled with pride in Thainess, be independent and tend to public interests.

He has at least admitted there is a problem with current situation, solving it is another thing altogether, the proof of the pudding will come later but he also will be fighting those within in the system who do not want change, the ones who do very nicely out things they way they are.

As always I wish him well with his reforms but he could start by comparing foreign curicullums with Thai ones and then look at the options, will it happen? I would not bet on it, too much say and not enough do, same as everywhere.

Under the planned educational reform, Thai children will have access to optimum education...

...except the foreign crap westerners posted on the internet. I hope they don't forget to print the famous words of wisdom (originated in Thailand of course) in bold letters on page one of the educational reform and development plans:

THE ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN THE WORDS!

The Tooth Fairy and Santa Clause would be more dependable.

PS: It's already November 2015!

I guess that explains why they cut back school hours? Do these folks ever interface with reality?

In it's style, this propaganda resembles the messages put out by old line communist regimes. If the PM stays in power long enough, we should expect a litle book of utterances.

Seems like a slow-mo cultural revolution, a dumbing down of the masses to elevate the 'Wisdoms' of the Leader and serve the 'Good' people who have so much.

The Thai education system is a place where children go at 7 years and stay until 21 years when they then get a parchment but are still children, tall 7 year olds if you like. If they are lucky they might get a government job or maybe a policeman or woman this ensures that you change the place of attendance from 21 until retirement but things carry on as before where 7 year olds appear to be now pensioners but still behave like 7 year olds.

There is much to do to prepare for tomorrows challenges, let us start tomorrow, always tomorrow that the way to do it,
