PHUKET: -- Huge power blackouts will affect large residential and commercial areas across Phuket for two weeks from today (Nov 12) as the Phuket Provincial Electricity Authority (PPEA) installs high-voltage power-supply cables for a new substation at Ao Makham.

The blackouts are required while workers install new power-supply cables carrying power from the Cheow Lan Dam (Ratchaprapa Dam) turbine generators in Phang Nga province, north of Phuket, the PPEA announcement said yesterday.

The blackouts, which will continue until November 27, will affect the following areas, as follows:

November 12 (9am to 4pm): Sakdidet Rd Soi 7 to Soi 9, including Soi Yee Teng, Soi Ar Jor, Thanit Rd.

November 17 (9am to 4pm): Kwang Rd and Chao Fa West Rd, including Tinnawut Village 3, Thepanusorn Rd, Moo Baan Bai Yok, Phuket Villa 2, Soi Boonlert, Phuket Villa 5.

November 19 (9am to 4pm): Sakdidet Rd, including Mueang Thong Intersection, Lak Meang Rd, Hok Hua Villa, Soi Nanachart, Irrawadee Soi 1 and 2, Soi Mali, Soi Saen Fuangfu until Kareuhat Thani Village.
