Government told not to pay builders of Klong Dan project



BANGKOK: -- A people’s network opposing the Klong dan waste water treatment project has voiced its opposition to the government’s allocation of a fund to pay the builders of the botched project.

The cabinet on Tuesday approved the request of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment for 9.6 billion baht to be allocated from the Central Fund to pay the NVPSKG consortium for the project as ordered by the Supreme Administrative Court. The payments are to be made in three tranches in both baht currency and US dollars with the first due on Saturday.

The people’s network asked the government to reconsider its decision to pay the project builders and to explore other options to avoid the payments.

The opponents claimed that the NVPSKG consortium had broken the terms of the construction contract and the project itself was rife with corruption, particularly corruption in the purchase of land to be used as the construction site of the project.

The court found that NVPSKG substantially complied with the contract and should be paid for the construction. The default was the incompetence of the PCD and corruption on the part of the involved ministry. Thais really don't understand democracy or government and deserve the fearless leader.

I see iso this, iso that, all over this country but QC/QA is a totally foreign concept.

Well, they couldn't be Thai companies as ....... wouldn't ........ etc etc.

As zaphod reborn observes, the courts have already decided in favour of NVPSKG.

Seems to be similar to the Police Stations contact with PCC Development and the new Parliament House contact with Sino-Thai! Corruption by past government officials!

Work has been done, so that work now must be paid for.

.......since when does anyone pay for a 'botched project'.....I guess not functioning or incomplete....

...possibly no environmental impact studies done before either....in which case....illegal and criminal....

Your fearless leader should know a thing or two about corruption being mired in few himself.

I think that 1/3 of the total cost to build, any road, bridge, building, dam, etc. goes to corruption. Just a guess !

I live in Mahachai, Samut Sakhon, province. When they very building the new road through the city; I watched them pave, and re-pave

the road three times.

1. Dig road for sewer, lay pipe and pave.

2. Dig the same road again, as they forgot to lay the water line. Pave.

3. Dig the same road again as they had forgot to lay the electrical and fibre opitcal cables. Pave.

You being fearless really ought to bring it to the attention of the RTP, who dislike the Army and the PM, and will have to act on your word and the proof that you have.
