Requirements for Dubai, Japan? Curious.

Recommended Posts

I'm under the impression that it's fairly impossible for a fit, trim university educated 56yo to get a job in Dubai and especially Japan. Anyone know to contrary?

I could potentially interview stateside for Japan.

Worried about all the credentialing for Dubai, MENA. I've no TEFL (some other certs), a good degree that should go over well in ME. Worried though about grammar, I hate it.

Finally, visa for wife?

Could she get work in Dubai with reasonable English skills?

I'm fairly fit, could pass for 50. Don't look burnt out.

I've already posted about all I wish to about myself in a forum for this. If you have something relevant to report, I'd appreciate it.

Why, are you hiring?

Would that not be, to whom?

The UAE may have a 55 y.o. hiring limit, or it may be 50, and sometimes they care about it, and sometimes they don't.

I have not taught in Saudi for 13 years now, and in the past, the requirements were:

BA/BS

TESOL/Cambridge Cert or similar

or

MA Tefl

I have taught in Saudi 9 years and here for a few. My mother taught in Japan for five years and in Saudi for about 5 years, and also in Qatar, UAE twice, Vietnam twice, and in Thailand a few years.

Please feel free to message me with any questions.

Here is some info on ME employment

Much of this is dated, so some of the sites will not work, but it is a guide, and an extensive one.

Wow, thanks.

I've a friend in Dubai and it being most liberal and job possibilities for wife.

CELTA is deal breaker. I've other certs from US but don't think they will impress.

Maybe next year I'll send out some resumes.

Japan would work far better for us but a job in ME would allow us to travel a very long time.

Thanks for that, I'll have a closer look later.

Standard bog Internet posts for ME and typical large agency like Aeon in Japan.

I've already posted about all I wish to about myself in a forum for this. If you have something relevant to report, I'd appreciate it.

Why, are you hiring?

Would that not be, to whom?

I note you are destined for "great things" in the ME or Japan they will love a "whom" cheesy.gif

Oh, so pleased you had noted that. The forum and especially myself will sleep better this evening.

No, I seriously doubt I'm destined for much of anything in the ME. I simply have/had a question. As for Japan, I've visited three times.

Just some ideas I had before I hit 60. Backroll our rtw trip instead of burning cash.

Unsure you're a troll, but a ****head seems pretty certain. Emoticons, how positively adult of you.

On my last job in Saudi, it was one of the better paying positions in the Kingdom at the time, it was normally reserved for teachers who had already spent considerable time in Saudi, a lot more than me, but we were getting teachers brand new to the ME. This was unusual. When schools and companies cannot recruit enough teachers, they will then allow teachers who would otherwise not be "qualified" to jump aboard, an this is the situation now, as fewer and fewer people are looking at going to the ME to work.

MA TESL, CELTA, DELTA, TESOL Cert., Cambridge, etc. Yes, necessary, but if you have experience, and if your BA is in something like Biology, or you have a nursing degree, then you could teach English to students looking to enroll in Medical School. Or, if you have a degree in Accounting, then you may be able to teach ESL / ESP in a business school, and the list goes on.

Again, feel free to message me and we can exchange emails, and I can inform you about employment possibilities for your wife where ever you may be working. The wife of one of our teachers in Saudi was a nurse, and she was able to get a job at the hospital opposite the compound. Lots of other possibilities are available.

Please message me and I will be happy to send you lots of attachments full of info for teaching in the ME.

Japan gets cold int he winter, and the cost of living eats up your income. In the ME, you can save a lot of money for the future, and it never gets very cold. I hope you like sunshine.

Anyway, dksharron that's a ton of info to chew on.

I'd like to go to Dubai as I have a friend in IT and I think it easier for wife to possibly work. Saudi, the ads are really for single (solo) males. I think Saudi kinda prison sentence, but I really enjoy exploring cultures so as long as I'm being paid properly and timely it could work.

It might be a good time to try ME with WW3 brewing and ME is epicenter.

I'm super busy at work but will try to remember to drop you a message soon. I've a decent job with vague possibilities. I honestly don't need this small money, but ME is cash worth focusing on.

I'll try and collect my thoughts and message you.

Thx for your efforts.
