Thailand hosts ICAD-2 in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Bangkok

BANGKOK, 23 November 2015 (NNT) - Thailand is hosting the International Conference on Alternative Development (ICAD-2), which aims to find holistic solutions to the root causes of narcotic plants cultivation.

ICAD-2 is being held in Chiang Rai province, Chiang Mai province and Bangkok from November 19 - 24. Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha officiated the opening ceremony and Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha gave a speech regarding the Kingdom's own developments.

Gen Prayut said the government places emphasis on creating equal opportunities in Thai society. He added that his administration is laying the foundation for comprehensive reforms that benefit everyone equally.

The premier said that the ongoing charter-drafting process will establish a constitution that reflects Thai society, while inviting greater public participation. The push for more public participation is also part of the five-year national strategy for 2015 - 2020, which aims to close social gaps that result in poverty and drug addiction.

The Thai government pledged to support innovation in the international community that elevate the quality of life and protect its people from crime, terrorism, natural disaster and the spread of disease.
