work permit with visa

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, need to know about cancelling my work permit, who do i tell and what do i do? my 'lawyer/accountant' has given me several different explanations, each contradicting the previous, add to the fact her English is not so good makes me think i better sort it out myself,
Secondly, how does this affect my Non Imm B visa which still has 6 months left on it?
The reason i am cancelling my work permit is that my job is over and i want to go back to Chiang Mai.
I really need your help on this TV people.
Thanks in advance, Kevin.

The WP is easily cancelled with a termination letter from your employer at the Labour Office which issued the permit. Either you or your employer can do this.

If you have a valid visa which was obtained from a Thai Embassy / consulate it remains valid . However if you have an extension of stay based on working (obtained from the immigration office) it ceases to be valid on the day the job ends.

An easy way of determining what you have is to as to ask " do I make 90 day reports to immigration or do I have to leave the country every 90 days" If you make 90 day reports you have an extension of stay !
