PHUKET: Police believe that the Phuket man who was speeding before smashing his car into an electric pole in Koh Kaew early this morning was under the influence of alcohol.

At about 2.30am this morning rescue workers sfreed Mr Nuttawut Rattanawichai from a totaled, black Honda Civic with Phuket plates, and rushed the man to Vachira Phuket Hospital.

Moments earlier, the man had lost control of his car after driving at a high speed on Thepkrasattri Rd, about 100 meters north of the Bang Koo intersection.

Hope he hurt himself seriously - may(?) teach him a lesson

If he is Thai and has money nothing will be done

Such an original and insightful over-generalisation.

I take it you don't live in Thailand?

"police believe he was drunk", but the headline seems to state the true fact reeked of alcohol, so which one is better at investigating a scene the Police or the Reporter?

Sensationlist journalism for sure, but if I had to choose who would be better at investigating a crime? I'd go with the reporter any day of the week.

The BIB will wait before a charge is made as to find if there is any money involved.

sad he did not kill himself, so he would not just get a slap on the wrist and do it again and kill an innocent person.

' Reeking of alcohol ' sounds so dramatic and a police officer who witnessed the incident said " we'll be checking him soon. "

Obvious question is did they ? We will likely never know.

Never wish upon another, somethng you would not wish for yourself. It could come back to bite one, twofold.

Maybe the smell was from the whyskey bottle that broke in the crash

Drove back from Kanchantaburi last night, saw many weaving cars, one guy cut from the outside lane straight across me and the other lanes just missining the car on the inside lane because he was going to miss his left hand turn.

Then weaving trucks, hoons on motorbikes, speeding overtaking loonies overtaking into oncomeing traffic, Just a normal day driving in LOS>whistling.gif

The sad end of another nice looking Honda Civic. It likely was a good thing that the driver was

drunk, as he may have been killed if he did this in a sober state, and braced for the collision.
