What are some good locations for Single Entry visa if flying out of BKK?

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me what destinations there are where I can easily get a Single Entry visa from if flying out of BKK with a flight of under 2 hours? Also what's needed for me to get the visa other than money, passport, pictures etc? Thanks

Penang Malaysia or Vientiane and Savannakhet Laos.

They ask for nothing more than your passport, application form with photos attached and money for the fee.

Thanks! You also answered to my future question :)

To Penang there are nonstop flight from Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi.

To Vientiane there are nonstop flights from Suvarnabhumi.

All quite pricey.

Cheaper options to Vientiane and Savannakhet require some overland travel in Thailand.

With advance air ticket purchase, Penang Malaysia may be best (no visa needed for Malaysia). Do not make the mistake of seeing cheap fares to Kuala Lumpur and assume an application would go smoothly at the embassy there.

Depending on your nationality, you may be eligible for visa exempt entry to Vietnam. Flights to HCMC and Hanoi from Don Muang are remarkably cheap right now. They want to see an air ticket out of Thailand or a bank statement (unclear what they want that to say).
