Two Vietnamese boats with 11 crews captured

KOH KRA: Two Vietnamese fishing boats with 11 crew members were seized by a Royal Thai Navy’s vessel for illegal fishing in the Thai waters.

The two fishing boats were found fishing for sea cucumbers near Koh Kra off Nakhon Si Thammarant which is regarded as Thai waters. Naval officers boarded the vessels and asked the skippers for fishing documents but they were unable to present. The boats were seized and then forced to head for the naval station in Songkhla.

All the 11 crew members were detained pending their prosecution on illegal fishing charges.
Since November 20 last year, ten Vietnamese fishing boats have been seized by the RTN for illegal fishing in Thai territorial waters.

Sea cucumbers must be big business. The sea cucumber mafia. Another mafia genre exposed.

Illegal fishing is a protected industry in Thailand and must be defended at all costs.

I bet none of the fishermen on the Vietnamese boat were slaves... coffee1.gif

2 boats with 11 crews wow must be huge boats!!!

I thought standard proceedure was immediate execution. Have they changed policy over the last few months?

They may well be now!

A game of musical chairs? Vietnamese fishing in Thai waters, and Thais fishing in Malaysian and Indonesian waters...

Why not just use the machine guns like last time?

If the crew members were smart, they'd claim they were seeking asylum in Thailand to avoid persecution in Vietnam.

The Prayut government will send them immediately to Vietnam the next day.

TAT just added them to the tourism count.

The fish trawling nets tied to their boats might give the game away a lil but it's worth a try lol

......tit for tat....

They might be slaves now that the Thais have them blink.png

It's like that board game 'Risk' out there!

There is another scandal unfolding where two bodies of enslaved Thais have come out of a mass grave 'used' by smugglers - in Indonesia... blink.png
