Agriculture Min details gov policies on forest protection and expropriation

BANGKOK, 17 December 2015 (NNT) - The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) held a hearing session with the Cabinet, with Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Gen Surasak Kanjanarat answering questions regarding the government’s policies on expropriation and the prevention of trespassing into forest land.

Gen Surasak revealed that the country currently has 102 million rai of forest land that requires strict monitoring and enforcing of laws. He reported that his ministry has handled up to 13,000 cases regarding trespassing into forest land and plans to expropriate 300,000 rai between 2015-16.

In addition expropriation and forest protection policies are mainly threatened by opportunity seeking by influential groups and impoverished locals trespassing into forest land. Gen. Surasak added that the government has succeeded in allocating 13,000 rai for the impoverished and will continue to reduce trespassing on forest land.

Enlightening stats , as much as I like the country and not having anything against the good General , getting around titles like Agriculture Minister Gen Suraoak Kanjanarat one wonders whether he would know the difference between a plough and a shovel ,unfortunately this is the trade off from the student revolution that Generals hold senior ranks to save face of defeat ,indirectly the military have still run Thailand in semi Junta control since that revolution , bet that won't happen next time...............................coffee1.gif

And has nothing to do with land department officials selling phony land deeds in exchange for bribes.

...and we all know who they are and also know this will go on until Lumphini Park is the only jungle left in this country.
