Cambodia Agrees to Resume Sending Maids to Malaysia

Khmer Times/Mom Kunthear

Cambodia and Malaysia will begin implementing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed earlier this month designed to organize the process of sending maids and other low-income workers to Malaysia for employment by mid-2016.

Ith Samheng, Minister of Labor, said the ministry was waiting to set up a framework to lay out the technicalities of the agreement in order to effectively implement the MoU.

“I think that this agreement is aimed at solving all of the problems that our maids or workers were faced with previously, and will especially focus on the rights abuses or torture from their landlords,” said Mr. Samheng.

ThaiVisa, c'est aussi en français

ThaiVisa, it's also in French

There is something joyfully weird in this for the economics alone. Consider, Malaysia sends maids to places like Saudi Arabia, who then send their money home (assuming all good things, no bad of course). Cambodia sends maids to Malaysia. Possibly to work for the families who now have money as one of their members is working in Saudi?. blink.png

We live in a strange world... NURSE! More medication please!

Lots of these people that employ maids, look down on them as very low class and will always mistreat them.
