  • Two killed while celebrating a birthday

  • Seven injured, four seriously

  • Police have basic details of suspected gunman but have yet to establish a motive

Police in Israel say no clear motive has been established for an attack on a busy bar in Tel Aviv on Friday which killed two people.

Seven people were wounded in the shooting, four of them seriously.

There has been an upsurge in violence between Israelis and Palestinians in recent months, connected to Jerusalem’s al-Aqsa mosque.

However, there has been no claim by Palestinian armed factions for this attack.

Tel Aviv Police Commander Yehuda Dahan told reporters certainty is required. “All lines of inquiry are being followed at the moment”, he said,“it could be terrorism, it could be criminal and personal, we are just not sure.”

The attack was captured on CCTV footage.

The 28-year-old suspected gunman has been identified by relatives as an Israeli Arab from northern Israel.

His name has not been released.

Haaretz has some good background in the case.

It appears the alleged attacker was very unstable, non political, and non religious. Police had been called previously to deal with his aggressive behavior towards his own family.

"We know he was being treated for mental [issues]," the relative said. "We haven't heard much about him recently. He wasn't married and we always suspected he was unstable."

Thanks for that update. It should slow down some of the speculation.

You forgot to add, at least from the sources I've read (NYT), that his brother was apparently murdered by an army border patrol of the Zionist State some years ago. It is surmised that this act of violence may have set this unstable individual on his course of revenge.

Maybe it's possible that killing an Arab doesn't amount to enough of a motive in their eyes for such an attack.

NYT?

Well that explains the "murdered"

The islamic bastard brother was shot because he tried to murder people.

And the Zionist state as your Islamic Arab influenced wording you use, is called the state of Israel.
