'Shop Chuay Chart' shopping campaign is a success



BANGKOK: -- The government's latest economic stimulus package that gave taxpayers 15,000 baht deduction from individual taxable income for shopping during December 25-31 has been a success with shopping centres crowded with shoppers to purchase to get the tax deductions.

Government spokesman Maj Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd said that the government was satisfied with its campaign “Shop Chuay Chart” economic stimulus measure during December 25-31.

He said shopping malls were filled with shoppers and many of them have made large purchases.

The spokesman said if only 50% tax payers went shopping during the week-long period, it was expected to stimulate cash flow of over 15 billion baht.

This stimulus measure was a success as businesses were benefitted, adding it might be continued.
