Jailed Union Reps May Get Bail

Five union members who were arrested while demonstrating outside the Agile Sweater (Cambodia) factory in Kampong Speu province last week may be released on bail from the provincial prison today.

Pav Sina, president of the Collective Union of Movement of Workers (CUMW), believes that his vice president and four members of his union will be released on bail today with help from the provincial governor.

“I met with the provincial governor, Ou Samoun, and the provincial labor department director on Friday for intervention to release our five union officials who are detained in prison, and the governor agreed to help them,” he said.
