Anyone know if there is an option to defer the start date of my Thai's wife visa application?

Onlne form wont let you submit if you arent travelling within the next 3 months.

Emirates have a great sale on at moment so want to save up to 20,000 baht by booking early.

Going on holiday for 3 weeks in July, someone suggested making application say 1st Febuary and defering start date to early May,like I said this option is not available online,is there another way or tney no longer offering this?

Cheers

Go ahead and book the tickets now. Judging by your other thread on this, in your/her circumstances you/she would have to really mess up the application to get it rejected.

From your other topic I see you are asking about a UK visit visa.

All UK visas are usually valid from the date of issue; but in the application you can ask for a specific start date up to three months ahead.

If you do this I suggest also requesting it in your covering letter and then checking the visa immediately it is received to make sure they got the right start date. Mistakes cannot be rectified later.

Remember the 6 months validity of the visa will begin on the requested date or the date of issue, whichever is the later. It cannot be used to enter the UK before the valid from date and the holder must leave the UK no more than 6 months after that date.

Applying now and deferring the start date for three months means the 6 month visa will expire in September; so no problems with a three week holiday in July.

UKVI advise not purchasing tickets until after the visa has been issued; and usually I would concur.

However, as Upnotover says, from what you have previously posted I can see no reason why your wife should be refused; up to you whether to follow that advice or purchase the tickets beforehand.

Cheers guys,it does not give you the option online defer, when we go to apply it asks if we are travelling within the nxt 3 months when we say no it kicks us out,can we apply in person?

All applications have to be made online.

As said, UK visas can only be post dated up to a maximum of three months. You are saying you will be travelling more than 3 months ahead, which is why it wont let you go any further.

When it asks if you will be travelling within the next three months answer 'Yes.'

You will then be asked at some stage for the actual date of travel.

As long as this date is no more than 3 months ahead you wont have a problem.

If you don't want the visa to start until July, then you will have to wait until April before applying.
