Ministry of Interior grants title deeds to public

Tanakorn Sangiam

BANGKOK, 23 January 2016 (NNT) – The Ministry of Interior has granted title deeds on 180,000 plots of land to the public in bid to reduce social disparity and increase property values.

Ministry spokesman Chayapol Thitisak disclosed that the ministry has issued title deeds on 180,000 plots to members of the public who may examine the deed-granting process to prevent the overlapping of land rights among land owners.

In 2016, the Ministry of Interior will focus on providing land for the public in southern border provinces, including 4,500 plots of land in Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat provinces and in areas surrounding Budo - Su-ngai Padi national park.

The Department of Land has also reduced the fee for land rights transfers from two percent to 0.01 percent to encourage real estate sector and open service hours from 8.30 a.m. until 5.30 p.m. for six months.

I wonder how many of these deeds slipped into the hands of the rich?

Guaranty it has not happen in my area.

Maybe I'm a cynic (well, I am a cynic) but I find it slightly off that they will concentrate on the southern provinces where "coincidentally" Suthep's rabble was recruited from.

That would have to be none - the rich are not members of the public wai2.gif

Does anybody have the Thai text regarding the reduced fee for land rights transfers? Preferably from an official source.

Thank you.

They certainly didn't end up in the hands of the sea gypsies who, despite occupying that land I dispute for more than a hundred years, are now being forced off it by property developers ( with, in now transpires, the support of the army...under an agreement in which troops will 'protect' the builders of villas under construction.) scandalous
