Bangkok's weather to return to normal on Friday



BANGKOK: -- Bangkok will become warmer after tomorrow as the cold spell from China which brought freezing weather to Bangkok, northern, northeastern and central provinces in the past few days has weakened.

An official of the Hydro-Agro Informatics Institute said Tuesday that examination of weather model shows that temperature in Bangkok on Friday will be between 25-26 C and Tuesday will be the last cold day for Bangkok this year.

However, he said that there is a good chance that another wave of cold spell will bring cold weather to Bangkok between January 31 until February 2, but not as cold as it has been in the past few days. Temperature is estimated to average 20C.

Several other provinces in the North, the Northeast and Bangkok will also turn cold during the period and, later on, the weather will become warmer until February 15 when another cold spell is expected to hit Thailand.

I got back from the UK on Saturday and had the weekend in Bangkok, and it was noticeably cool. Returned to Chiang Mai on Monday, and its really cold and wet. Hopefully, only another day of it, as my bones are aching.

Just give us a few weeks more. You'll have another year of stinking hot, humid weather to enjoy.

I suppose this cooler weather gets Europeans, and North Americans upset who come here for the warm weather, but to expats who have to endure hot, humid weather all year round, it's a wonderful change. I can't remember feeling this energetic in years.

There were more cars and people on the street during the curfew a couple years ago then there were last night at 22:30 in Ubon. This country isn't set up for temps under 20. Nobody has warm clothes, no heat in houses or other buildings, a lot of cars don't even have heaters.

I moved here for the warmer climate, now I have to stay indoors because it is too cold to go out !

I thought cooler/dryer weather in Bangkok in January was the normal weather. Not the

hot humid weather we have had this past December and January.
