arunsakda
Remember when it was announced traffic fines were reduced on New Year's, contrary to any reasonable standard of common sense? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Barnet
"which it's believed saved a lot of Thai people from dying in road accidents during the New Year festival" So that sounds factual and conclusive. "Secretary General, Dr. Taejing Siriphanich and the Drunk Driving Victims' Network" Never heard of either nor am I likely to again. Bet the network are well supportive. "Suan Dusit poll which showed that 80.47 percent of the citizens support measures that tackle the problem of drunk driving." Amazed this hasn't got onto BBC or CNN yet with so many acclaimed experts sharing their view points. Or are they banned yet? So the 20% or 1/5 people who didn't vote in favour of not drinking or driving felt it unfair to be punished for breaking the law or rules? I'm guessing Somchai thought 80% acceptance stats would gain him an earlier lunch allowance. Hold the press - 1 in 5 of the general public believe it's wrong to tackle drunk drivers. 1 from 5!!!!!!! Yes...1 out of 5 people (and probably more if the survey was reported accurately) here actually believe that they should be able to drink and drive. 1 from 5 of the general public feel it is safe and acceptable to get paraletic and get behind the wheel of a car. 1 from 5 of the folk we interact with each day think there isn't a problem with the current scheme of things. Amazing these people.

NCC1701A
unfortunately, Drunk Don’t Drive Foundation Secretary General, Dr. Taejing Siriphanich was killed by a drunk driver on his way home after his meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Narong Phiphatthayasai. The drunk driver, identified only as a female Thai television celebrity, left the scene saying she was to distraught to talk to police as her Mercedes was completely destroyed in the accident. Srikcir
While USA-trained Dr. Taejing is a member of the toothless Thai National Human Rights Commission, he does have an otherwise interesting CV. DrTaejing.pdf
Laughing Gravy
After picking myself up off floor I read it again. Yes I fell back over laughing at the words, Dusit poll. All of any credibility goes out the window when I see them words.
LannaGuy
can we have the figures for fines imposed? sentences imposed? or is it just we took their vehicles for a few days than gave them back? pathetic
DrTuner
I'm intrigued. What's the correct protocol of slapping each others backs in the Thai good old boys club, do you stand in a circle or turn around for your turn?

mrrizzla
Funny that. I see all the motorcycle taxi guys in my area a bottle of whisky down by midday. This is every other day (sometimes they take a day off from driving pi$$ed).

Praematura
Lol rigorous enforcement? A guy I know in Pattaya got stopped at a checkpoint dui. Long story short "enforcement" cheered by op resulted in a 10,000 baht payment to said cops and nothing more.
