En route from Sihanoukville province to Koh Rong Island, eight people – including six Vietnamese tourists – had to be rescued Monday morning after their tour boat capsized about 18 kilometers offshore. According to police, the speedboat ran into rough seas at around 10 am prompting emergency response.

“After receiving information from another boat, we sent an emergency team to rescue them immediately following the capsize,” Sihanoukville Police Chief Major General Chuon Narin told Khmer Times.

He added that two Cambodians, one captain and his lone crew member, were pulled from the sea. Two children were among those rescued.
