renewing annual extension of stay (marriage): when to apply?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

A simple question but I can't find the answer on past posts.

I need to renew my annual extension of stay through marriage (first renewal, married just over a year ago). I'll be travelling abroad in the run-up to the due date so was wondering how late I can leave it before heading to Chaeng Wattana. Do applicants need to apply a certain number of days in advance? There are useful posts on this site about being able to apply up to 30 days before, but what about the minimum? I don't want to leave it to the final few days only to find that more notice is needed.

Thanks for all responses!

Adam

There is no minimum time before the extension ends. You can do it on the last day.

Thanks Ubonjoe, that's useful. If any readers have other experiences, do let us know.

You can apply up to 30/45 days early.

Leaving it until the last day is ok providing you have all the correct paperwork.

Leaving it to the last few days isn't usually a problem. Many people apply then as they don't know it's possible to apply early. If there is a problem with your paperwork for the 1 year extension you should be able to get a 60 day extension (if you haven't had one already) with just a marriage certificate, and you can then apply for the 1 year at the end of the 60 days.
