CDC affirmed no extension of deadline for organic law drafting has been planned

BANGKOK, 10 February 2016 (NNT) - The Constitution Drafting Commission (CDC) has affirmed that it has not been considering a plan to extend the deadline for the charter drafters to work on all organic laws.

CDC Spokesperson Norachit Sinhaseni said on Tuesday that the charter drafters have met with international diplomats in the country to update them on Thailand's political transition. He informed the diplomats that even if the draft constitution passes the public referendum, it will take around eight months to draft the organic laws.

Mr. Norachit said the diplomats have asked about the CDC's confidence in the effectiveness of the draft charter to resolve the country’s long-standing political unrest. The CDC Spokesperson said he admitted that the new constitution alone will not be very effective in resolving all issues, saying that it is up to all parties in the country to come together to find solutions.

Of course they are not considering an extension of the deadline at this point in time...they are saving that for later.
