Famelab competition to search for promising Thai scientists and innovators

Bangkok, 11 February 2016 (NNT) – Under the “Civil State” approach, unifying the efforts of the public and private sector, state and private organizations have joined together to organize the “Famelab” project to search for top Thai scientists and technology developers who will represent the nation at an international scientific communication competition.

Minister of Science and Technology, Pichet Durongkaveroj, has acknowledged that while Thailand possesses many skilled scientists and technological innovators, the amount is still below the demands of the Kingdom’s economy. He said Famelab was created to generate awareness in the need for scientists in the country and their role in propelling the nation’s economy and society forward.

The project’s main aim is to encourage young Thais to choose careers in the sciences and innovation sector and is in line with the government’s policy to transform Thai society into one of innovation.

Famelab will start on February 24 by allowing participants to showcase their novel technological, engineering or mathematics projects for 3-7 minutes. Finalists will then compete on April 29 with the winner to represent Thailand at an international event in the United Kingdom in June.

Lol Thai Communism...

Considering the educational system etc. should be and EASY task. lol lol lol

And the most promising innovations in the pipeline are: a light bulb, a telephone and a man made ice cube.

Well, at least the search won't take very long.

search for promising Thai scientists and innovators

...the Search for Spock continues, but they found Cpt. Kirk in Pattaya...

"Minister of Science and Technology, Pichet Durongkaveroj, has acknowledged that while Thailand possesses many skilled scientists and technological innovators"

Many as in two? Which I doubt as everything of a scientific, technological nature is imported. Every cell phone comes from abroad. Every computer is of foreign origin. Etc, etc.

Yeah good luck wit that considering the current state of education.

Innovation HERE in Thailand cheesy.gif They are all taught to follow How on earth are you going to find a true innovator here that is Thai

The article conveys the impression that the regime has dreamt this up, whereas:

"FameLab is an international training programme designed to inspire, motivate and develop young scientists and engineers to actively engage with the public and stakeholders

Originally started in the UK in 2005 by Cheltenham Science Festival since 2007 competitions have been run around the globe thanks to the British Council and local partners."

I CANT EVEN FIND DECENT thai PROGRAMMERS or thai writters. i pay my writer online 5 USD an article. When i approached a Thai with the same offer, they want 120USD per article. NOW thats an INNOVATOR!!

. or do you mean...
