Why are so many Thai men so jealous, possessive and insecure about their women?

Thai men, western men...there isn't a great difference.

My wife goes out all the time(i encourage and I go out whenever I want), but she always has trouble getting her friends with western husbands to go with her. This has been experienced both here and in Australia.

It isn't a Thai thing at all, in fact if anything her friends with Thai partners can usually go out more freely.

I love it when my wife and kids go back to the village without me, it means I don't have to spend a week there and instead can spend all week at the sauna.

And do you really know exactly where she goes and what`s she`s up to each time she goes out without you?

It`s usually the husband that is the last to find out if any hanky panky is going on behind your back. I speak from experience.

My wife goes out most mornings about 6.30 to exercise or play badminton, when she comes back a couple of hours later she is all hot and sweaty ,so she either Is working out,or my God he is a hell of a lover. I trust her completely and in 24 years have never had any cause whatsoever not to .

You cant trust a thai woman.

You are so far from the truth it's pathetic. It's obvious you've been looking in all the wrong places. HINT: stay out of the bars.

To answer the question....most of the thai males are raised by females, mothers/grannies/aunties etc.....so thèy copy what they know best.

Welcome to matriarchical Thailand. They all want to be women !

Posted

Easy to explain.

If you are a man that easily can seduce or have affairs with married women, you may believe that your own wife can be a "pray" to other men.

Thailand is a country where most men can cheat its wives without concerns, and many times with spouse "permission".

Because cheating is kind of Thai tradition, insecurity in that area it is also a tradition.

Cheated wives are more inclined to cheat its husbands...and that's cover most Thailand wives.

Most Thai women believes that they are cheated. My wife, who is beautiful, and a lot younger than myself, do not believe that I am not cheating her, and that is not good. Who knows if she will get a "revenge" without real reasons? Just that can make any men insecure...even an older farang.

This is exactly the kind of distrust and jealousy that is mentioned! Why get married if you feel your wife is bad? Who wants to feel like that being so suspicious. Waste of time and emotions. I let my wife do as she pleases and I have had no reason to feel that she is doing wrong or such. Quite often she invites me to go with her but I do value a bit of alone time and a bit of golf time. If I worried what she was up to every time we were apart I would not have married her.

Yeah and that's why they're all running around Sukhumvit soi 3 looking for a hung-like-a-horse African guy to bottom them out

I don't think you could be any more clueless about women if you tried

ALL? ALL? -- so is that where you get 'em?

Come on OP. Whilst I am often questioning Thais I think it is unfair to make sweeping statements like ' why are so many Thai men'. They are not all the same. Different culture, different ways of showing how much they love their partners. I would say for this reason would answer your question.

But that's the OP's MO, he observes some isolated incident and manages to leap to some ridiculous conclusion about a whole country of peoples he's never met. And of course, his conclusions are always negative about the Thais, especially the men. Talk about insecurity and immaturity.

So let me ask you OP, if I was married with a wife and kids, and my wife wanted to go for an extended vacation alone, leaving me to work and look after the kids, and I said "no." would you call me jealous and insecure?

That's the thing OP, your knowledge of Thailand and the Thais are so obscenely poor that you are almost always wrong when you express an opinion about Thailand.

Rubbishing someone is low, especially when you stuff up so badly.. you are another one who confuses "so many Thai men' with a WHOLE country, the OP simply DID NOT SAY that... to help foolish comment makers the definition of "many" is "a large number of" notice, it does NOT mean ALL.

Are you being deliberately obtuse? If not, your ignorant astounds me. Let me explain by example: If a Thai person were to ask the question "Why are so many farang males who come to Thailand pedo's," would you take offense? The person wouldn't be saying ALL, as you say, but "many." Nevertheless, the implication is there and some would take it to mean all farangs. That's why Mexicans in the US, legal and otherwise, were offended when Donald Trump made offensive comments about illegal aliens, even though the comment wasn't technically about them. But the implication was there.

The point is, if people kept repeating that "farang males are pedo's," over time, the belief would be ingrained and many would apply this to all farang males. If you don't mind getting beat up late one night by a bunch of strangers because they mistakenly think you're a pedo, well that's certainly up to you.

That's not what you said though is it?

"Let me explain by example: If a Thai person were to ask the question "Why are so many farang males who come to Thailand pedo's," would you take offense?"

Now if a Thai said all farang males are pedos, then of course I would object.

See there is an implicit difference between many and all.

I understand your point, but we're splitting hairs here. If the "implication" is that all farang males are pedos, then you should be offended. The only people who wouldn't be offended are the pedo's themselves, because that's what they are.

Why would the pedo comment bother me or anyone who is not. I would reply yea I wish they could lock them all up forever in jail. Many means a lot. Nothing more and nothing less. If you read the news article this all started with on the Thai man shooting his married with 2 children lover before turning the gun onto him self (and managing to his an 8 year old girl in the neck) you would see that's the gist. If you can not figure out basic English words I would hate to think with all those posts the drivel that you have spun. It was a thread based on a news article if you don't like that get over it no need to post your nonsense

Geez, another Thai-hating bigot in our midst. I think I've already explained this, so I'm not going to repeat. But back in my homeland, we've got jealous crazy guys doing carnage all the time. But it doesn't mean that all American men..or if you prefer, "many" or "a lot" of American men are jealous, possessive, and insecure about our women. Before you respond to my post next time, please bring some IQ with you.

Let's face it if you ever read a comments page in a daily British newspaper, every guy who lives in Thailand is either a pedo or pensioner married to a 20 year old bar girl, tourists who come to say Pattaya only ever see walking street and the bar areas, the dark side where family's live is a foreign land ,it just goes with the territory like all estate agents are crooks. Personally I take no notice of wan__kers like them

Far from Thai hating or a bigot. So that's the way it is? If someone posts news they are a bigot? A discussion on a forum brings out both sides. In this case I have seen the above mentioned type of actions many times. No one said all. I have witnessed this before in my modest years of living here. I have also seen this in other country's more so in the Asia region as I work around here. Even some of my Thai golf partners are this way. More often than not with their GF not their wives. As for an IQ, you seem to spew nonsense and read into things in an extreme way. Maybe try not posting when so mad. Step back have a luke warm glass of chill out then come back and post what you wanna say. It's a forum not everyone is going to see things your way but calling people names and acting like a child will get others to provoke you. It's news and brought about to be a discussion topic. Would be like asking why so many Americans tend to lose it and open fire on people in public schools as such. All and many man all and many. get over it

The amount of murdering control freaks in the UK belies that this is just a Thai syndrome.

It seems getting dumped by a partner to the millennial generation gives them the right to revenge porn/violence or social media denigration. The self worth and self esteem of these types is rock bottom and pitiful.

Look, adultery is openly practiced everywhere in the country as far as infidelity of men is concerned. Not having a "mia noi" or a "gig" seems to result in giggles at barber shops, immigration counters etc. as far as I am concerned.

This chauvinist society - screwing around like if there is no tomorrow - quite obviously has the problem that the Thai men automatically assume that the same would happen with their partners. This insecurity results in mistrust. So what else do you expect from Thai men?

Having said so it is obviously similar with cross-cultural partnerships if they meet in nightlife spots like bars, massage parlours etc.
He "bought" her out (initially for a night or so) and hence can buy anybody else out as well - mistrust by the GF/wife.
She got "bought out" and hence any other guy can do the same - mistrust by the man

There are so many things wrong with the society structure here but, as a guest here I behave accordingly and leave judging to the affected. Only once women start getting onto their feet, claim their rights against men (Thai men, that is) then things might move. Ever heard of a Thai man paying alimony or taken responsible for his actions against his gf/wife? Latter, street-smarted meanwhile, ends up in a nightspot and waits for her prey from faraway lands who, with different society values, is taken to the cleaners in lieu and revenge which explains that most cross-cultural partnerships are either very superfluous or simply not working. My grain of salt to the subject wai2.gifwai2.gif

it all stems from penis envy. a small di@k. that's the root of all the problems you mentioned.

What an absurdly stupid comment from an equally absurd human being.

you have obviously not been in a serious relationship with a thai woman...

this is EXACTLY what it is all about, size and what you know to do with it. money comes a second best.

this is the only ever FIRST reason a thai girl wants to meet a farang.

and you should have been censored for calling a fellow poster an 'absurd human being', pal.

What are you on about? I am married to a Thai woman and she has much more money than I do! If it had been about money, then she would not have married me.......pretty simple really.

I should have been censored? That silly comment from that guy should have been censored. Get a grip. You should be deported for your racism and stupidity..

So many experts here on what makes Thai guys tick.

How many have ever had one as a friend?

[sound of crickets]

That's the thing. You have the keyboard geniuses in here spouting their racist drivel in here about a topic they do not even know anything about. Then you have the typical small penis size catcalls from the gallery as a type of western superiority complex when the fact is most of you western lot are the most insecure of them all. Yes, the truth does hurt but most of you foreigners here are "broken" people who have miserably failed in your homelands. As I have mentioned in another thread, if I were in power, I would deport most of you and slap life bans on re-entering the Kingdom for your racism and general disrespect towards your Thai hosts. What an absolute joke...

Agree there are some seriously "broken" farangs on TV. They seem to believe that if they dump on the Thais, it somehow improves their otherwise miserable lot in life. But I doubt that it really does.

I would include the 'severely judgmental' in the 'seriously broken' category.

Not to mention those white guys that have become so 'Thai' that they call other white guys 'farang'.
