Australia man squats in lake during police stand-off

SYDNEY: -- An Australian man who crashed an allegedly stolen van into a lake refused to leave the water, even after police drew their weapons.

Officers saw the van plunge into the lake in west Sydney early on Tuesday.

When they stopped to check the van, the driver swam into the man-made reservoir and crouched among weeds with his hood pulled over his head.

And this is newsworthy?

some knucklehead ...... they should have shot him .... blink.png

Maybe he was hot and was just trying to cool down.

Was it an Aussie politician or NRL player by any chance?

And this is newsworthy?

If he were bitten by a croc or some other friendly Australian critter , it would be...

Seems the swagman has jumped into the billabong and the troopers suspect a jumbuck to be involved. An extraordinary turn of events.

Can Police Dogs swim?

No sympathy for a guy who steals someones car or bike and then trashes it.

pity they waited....it would be nice to have sent the dogs and know he could not breed more like him.

He was pretending to be a water lily. Who doesn't like water lilies?

It is actually a very effective defence used by Kangaroos. Dogs and Kangaroos are mortal enemies and will fight to the death. A big Roo Buck will always get the upper hand on land and disembowel the attacking dog quickly by grabbing its head and leaning back on its tail lifting its dagger like toe and end of dog. Smaller Roos will head for a damn and sit in the middle of it. When the dog wades in to attack the Roo it simply holds the dog under the water and drowns it.

The Police would not send a dog into water the offender would simply drown it.

This certainly belongs in the world news section. coffee1.gif

He was doing the same thing women do when they squat in a lake...gigglem.gif

Now, that really is funny.

I thought same, but anyway, that would cost him a lot extra, getting it from the Policeman when coming out of the water on the end and killing a Dog-Police "officer" on duty, gives more time in prison too! rolleyes.gif
