How do I get another multiple entry Type O, one year visa, without returning to my home Country?

I have been going back and forth between Canada and Thailand, for about 15 years now. Every year, I always get my 1 year multiple entry Type O visa, in Vancouver, by just showing my marriage certificate of my Thai wife and a copy of her Tabien Baan.

Thing is, I want to spend the next two years in Thailand, without returning home and was wondering, if i can get the same visa somewhere else, like Kuala Lamphur? I am also interested what I would have to bring for documents and cash in order to get it?

Canada is a long flight away and i would love to skip it for a few years, if I can, but I like crossing be border every three months, so I would like to keep getting the Non-IMM Type O one year visa. Any suggestions?

You could get a one year (renewable) extension of stay from immigration. You would need 400K Bht in a Thai bank or a certified income of 40K Bht/month.

A visa could be obtained from Svannakhet ,Laos without having to show finances.

Yes, my own opinion is that, why the hell screw around with these stupid non O,s when you just can apply for an extension of stay based om marriage, and be done with it.

If you are so keen to go out of Thailand,,, than go just for fun, and meanwhile be relaxed and have your stay arranged and fixed.

Sounds like you enjoy your three months in Thailand and then tripping somewhere so I would suggest the multiply entry Non O visa you can get from Savannakhet with no show money and little paper work. Also if you exit and return on the last day or two before the visa expires the you can get an addtional 3 months making it 15 months instead of 12 months. Then either go again to Savannakhet and get a new same visa or you can extend the first one for another 60 days at Chaengwattana for 1900baht giving you 17 months all together.

I believe that you are way to optimistic.. I dont think you can ever extend a VISA two times, just one time... Than get another new one, which you can extend..

not extension when you out/in and that is what I am saying just before the last date to use the visa you can get 90 days on re-entry to Thailand and then extend after that

Incorrect.

Each 90 day entry gained from a multiple -entry visa can be extended for 60 days by a person married to a Thai

Get an O-A while in Canada and just do a border run before the first year runs out and get another year, no additional paperwork in Thailand, other than your normal 90 day reports

First year you can come and go as many times as you want, on the the second year just get a reentry permit from Immigration if you want to leave the kingdom and return back to Thailand before your permission to stay expires

That is one way of getting the two years out of one visa

The OP does not mention his age, so this may not be possible for him.

whistling.gif Since you are apparently married to a Thai, you can get a one year extension of your non O visa annually renewable every year from your local immigration. It will require one of the following financial details:

  • 400K Baht in a Thai bank account in your name OR
  • An income of 40K Baht MONTHLY.

When your extension is confirmed.....will need marriage license and other documents.....your extension will be good for one year an can be renewed annually in country by showing the same documents and financial requirements.

If you WANT to leave Thailand,,,,after you get your annual extension....you purchase a multiple re-entry permit for 3800 baht, which will be good for the same one year as your extension is and allows you to leave and re-enter Thailand any time you want to.

All that is required is that you return to Thailand at least t once a year to do the annual renewal before your yearly extension expires for your next extension renewal.

There are some of us here in Thailand who are retired, and live year to year in Thailand on a annual retirement visa extension.

We use an exit re-entry permit good for one year....and we return every year to renew our retirement extension.

No need for you to leave Thailand annually for another visa unless you want to.

You could do the same thing being married to a Thai...just use an annual marriage extension yearly.

KL is not a good choice but you can get a 1 year multiple entry non 'O' visa based on marriage from Savannakhet, Laos or Penang, Malaysia.

  • Savannakhet require an original marriage certificate, copies of ID, Tabien Baan and no financials.
  • Penang want the marriage certificate, copies of ID, Tabien Baan and a minimum of 100k in the bank.

What you are planning to do is no problem.

Could anyone else confirm that these requirements at Savannakhet are accurate? I'm heard some conflicting information about what's required so just want to be sure.

What you have been told is currently accurate.

Where did you hear "some conflicting information" ?

Thanks. I heard it through my wife, I don't know what her source was but I'm sure information on here is more reliable.

You cannot annually extend your Non Imm O Visa at a local Immigration office.

The extension is to extend your 'permission to stay'. The Non Imm O Visa expires.

That's why you need to obtain a 're entry' permit, if your going to leave Thailand on an extension of stay.

If you could extend the Visa, then the multi entry element of it would still be active....unfortunately you cannot.

I'll also confirm that the information supplied by elviajero is perfectly correct.

I have a number of friends married to a Thai who regularly use Savannakhet for their ME Non Imm O. No proof of funds required.

I'm curious, has anyone married a Thai lady outside of Thailand i.e. Malaysia,

and then went to the consultant to apply for a Non O visa?

As there are plenty of places I can think of that are much nicer to get married at,

than within Thailand...

Once the honeymoon is over with,

then could a person use their new relationship status to apply for a Non O visa,

while still being out of the country?

My guess is Thailand would want you to marry within Thailand,

and they leave to apply for a Non O based on this relationship status.

Since some people still don't like to fly,

as often as others do, but still fall in love,

and wish to marry, it would be nice if this were a option.

I can also imagine that some would like to marry within the presence of their own family,

in their home country, and then apply for a Non O visa upon returning to Thailand with their new bride.
