webfact Posted February 29, 2016 Share Posted February 29, 2016 Channel 3 suspends airing of Chao Khao Den news talk programmeBANGKOK: -- Channel 3 has suspended the airing of Sorayuth Suthassanachinda’s Chor Khao Den news talk programme this evening following his conviction by the Criminal Court of the charge of abetting wrongful acts by government officials to avoid paying extra air time fees to the Mass Communications Organisation of Thailand.Management of Channel 3 held a meeting today (Monday) following the court’s guilty verdict to decide how to deal with the wellknown news anchorman and his TV programmes which include the popular Ruanglao Chao Nee.Sorayuth was released on a two-million baht bail pending his appeal to the Appeals Court on the conditions that he is banned from leaving the country unless with permission from the court and to report to the court every 30 days .Sorayuth and his company, Rai Som, were found guilty of cheating MCOT of 138 million baht in extra air time and was sentenced to 13 years and four months.Meanwhile, Mr Thepchai Yong, president of Thai Broadcast Journalists Association, Sorayuth’s conviction should serve as a lesson for media people that they have wanted government officials and politicians to be transparent and accountable, they, too, must behave likewise.He then called upon the wellknown anchorman to show his spirit by quitting his profession.Source: http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/content/152916 -- Thai PBS 2016-03-01 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Should be banned for life for what he has done but in this morally corrupt country nobody has the balls to deal with moral issues such as this. He should at least be suspended until the whole issue has been finalized. Stole millions but out on appeal probably for years. Poor people convicted of stealing a few hundred baht get sent straight to prison of course.
