PM will explain the govt's flood handling measures tonight

Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont will explain the overall measures of the government in handling the flood situation in Thailand via the state television today at around 9 PM.

Gen. Surayud spoke about his meeting with the community leaders during the flood situation, saying he heard a person commented that the interim government had not done anything to help the flood-affected people. Following the incident, the Prime Minister said the government is helping the flood-stricken people, but the government has not publicized their assistance to the general public. He clarified that the government has prepared measures to mitigate and restore the situation.

Yesterday evening, the Prime Minister went to record a special TV programme at Modern Nine TV, in order to clarify the government’s implementation in solving the flood problems. The show will be televised at around 21:00 hours today.

Gen Boonsrang to call a meeting in preparation for possible flood in the South

Supreme Commander General Boonsrang Niumpradit (บุญสร้าง เนียมประดิษฐ์) is set to call a meeting on all relevant units to combat possible flooding in Thailand's Southern region.

As the chairperson of flood preventive measure team, Gen Boonsrang said he will apply old measures that were deemed useful in the past in handling inundation.

He concede however that his pfficials may be unable to help out all 3 million of flood-affected people. However, he said that he will perform his best to assist them in any way he can.
