Scandinavia next target for Thai tourism campaign

BANGKOK: -- Tourism and Sports Minister Suwit Yodmanee will lead a Thai delegation to promote tourism in Scandinavia later this month.

The delegation will participate in the Pre-World Travel Mart (WTM) Road Show 2006 in Sweden and Denmark during Oct 31-Nov 2.

Dr. Suwit said the road show is part of the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s marketing plan for 2007.

The Thai Hotels Association and Association of Thai Travel Agents will join the road show. They will be represented by more than 30 operators of hotels, resorts and travel agencies who will work with the Thai team in promoting tourism to nearly tourism operators and tourists in Scandinavia.

Dr. Suwit said he would provide facts on the situation in Thailand after the Sept 19 coup to Scandinavian tourism operators as well as give interviews to Danish and Swedish media.

The Royal Flora International Horticultural Exposition 2006 in Chiang Mai on Nov 1, 2006- Jan 31, 2007 will be promoted during the road show while the Bangkok International Film Festival 2007 will also be highlighted, the minister said.
